Figured it was high time to finish this trucking project. Many of you will recognize the maker of this little beauty. I have three truck kits and one extra GN trailer that I need to complete, and this is the first one.
Here she is languishing in a stage of uncompletion: ![]() Now, after a few nights work, she is respectable: ![]() And here she is side by side with a Mini-metals puppy I was given. ![]() Too bad one can no longer get the Ulrich kits at $5 like I did on the ones I acquired many moons ago...... -------------------- Don in "Orygun" City

I haven't seen any of those trucks in years..Seems they are a rare breed on contemporary layouts..Kinda sad really.

More like $70 and they don't have the KW listed on their website. http://www.ulrichmodels.biz/servlet/StoreFront Nice job on yours, Don. -------------------- Karl N. Scribner

Don,
Excellent looking !! have built a few since 61 or 62,but could never get the trailer roof to fit properly, may need some of the $3.00 replacements !! do You remember the Penn Line Ford C and Stamped Metal Trailers ? need to redo one of those with nice wheels someday. did You do a Review of Athearn trucks and Trailers for Model Railroad News Recently ? or is that the Maine Don Mills that makes Truck kits some times ? the CMW IH R190 seems slightly small next to the Kenwoth,is that correct ? the Ulrich trucks were tooled by JJ Munson of Athearn Fame and Lockheed Skunk Works Day Job !! would like to see the Tank Trailer back out again !! also the Van with the bogies closer to the center, was that one Round Nosed ? think Lee Town Models once made shorter Eastern style frames for the 2 and 3 axle Macks, is Lee Town still a part of Jaks Industries ? Bob,
The D Mills you refer to must be the Canadian variation. Now, there is a town in Canada named Don Mills - - - - hmmmm, infringing on my name they are. Dunno about the van of which you speak, but I am now working on another Ulrich tractor/trailer; the Time DC version. That tractor is the Mack version. The cab looks like something that was used in one of the Star Wars movies...... Hard t' believe that company K9 mentioned gets $70 apiece for this puppy seeing how I paid $5 back in 76. Some progress. Yer right regarding the roof. It doesn't quite match the body of the trailer, but I kin overlook that minor thingie... -------------------- Don in "Orygun" City

Bob, Now, there is a town in Canada named Don Mills I've spent a few days there. I didn't see any Wishram units though. -------------------- John Brock

Don, Walthers never seemed to make the Van with the moved boogies, just sold off the ones on hand when they aquired the Ulrich line. the Macks need the window posts opened up some between the side widows and windshields. have some pics in the Mack Driven for a Century book if You want some ideas. after a couple of years Mack actually lowered the cab overs some.the Ulrich is based on the Taller Original version. when that other Don Mills address is found will post it for You,thier were logging trucks and trailer kits by Him shown in Mainline years ago. John, You need to get out of the Ice House to watch trains !! did get another X-Rap and X-Rap shad to try out, cant believe what they list for now !! what working this year ? Finally found my old Ulrich PIE truck, I think I got this in the late 50's or early 60's when I was around 10-11 years old.
